Or give us something else to keep us here! Megan I am an events management student and attend V festival in Staffordshire every year. I think the locals should stop complaining and enjoy the free tickets they receive every year and actually look at what V festival does for the community in terms of image, funding and injecting money into the area and in terms of rejuvenation- its not a bad thing to have in your area.
Imagine having glastonbury on your doorstep!! Jade Caton! V is most people who live in chelmsford look forward to every year. The same problems are going to occur where ever you move the festival to. This would take everything away I have grown into. Lisa One reason that there is loads of rubbish left on the ground is the fact that there are very few rubbish bins and these where not emptied regularly, when I eventualy found one to put my rubbish in it was overflowing.
At other festivals they give campers a rubbish bag and give incentives to have it returned full of rubbish. Sarah Robinson No. Im a resident of Chelmsford and attend V every year. It's a fantastic event with very little trouble and is one of the things that makes Chelmsford such a great place to live. I admit it is sad to see the mess left at the end but it is cleared up and any damage that does occur to the land isn't permanent.
Paul Mead The most damage caused to the ground happend due to there not being any traffic control for cars leaving the park after the festival finished. It was a joke, people were just barging their way through any gap they could find, in order to get out, there were no protective surfaces layed out, so the ground just got chewed up by the cars. That part is solely at the door of the organisers. Frances Mason No, this festival keeps Chelmsford on the map for the right reasons.
Dee Badminton Much is made of dog walkers losing Hylands to the V but it has been my experience that the park is not shut to dog walkers. The V site is very securely fenced and dog walkers are free to use the rest of the grounds - mainly the forested land and grassland towards the woods.
We have found the V car park staff very helpful and once the dog walking is explained the dog is given a free car park ticket and you are free to go anywhere.
Yes litter is left but so are loads of tents and camping equipment which get recycled to the third world. Normal weekend visitors leave rubbish - it seems to be our nature these days to litter. I do not attend V but would not like to see it moved away from Chelmsford - we need something to brighten our environs from time to time. What a load of killjoys. These people have obviously got no musical taste nor sense of fun and desperately need to get out more!!.
I went to the first festival and have been to several since. Yes there is a lot of mess but in fairness a lot of that is down to the organisers who do not provide enough bins. And as for the traffic problems we found them no worse than trying to get out of Chelmsford on a normal working day-in fact I'd say easier since there were lots of people managing the traffic and exit of significant numbers of people in a very orderly fashion.
The excellent musical talent on show boosts Chelmsford's reputation as a good place to come to and the good vibe more than make up for any transient inconvience.
Even the police joined in the fun and there are no doubt some pictures on mobiles to prove it. Last entry to the venue will be advised on our social media, web and ticketing platforms.
