Sid meiers pirates where is the ship of the line

My current fav is the War Canoe - easy to sail and maneuver at any difficulty - usually untouchable in combat unless I screw up and it is wipred out if a larger ship catches it in a full broadside - so I pack a spare canoe as a finisher in case that happens.

Its big. Powerful Strong You dont have to worry about anything Except acidentlinally destorying ships on acident. After you are done with War Cannoe Phase Maybe your SOL phase will be next. Just finding one is a task more difficult than anything offered in many other games. The 'best' ship for me seems to depend a lot on the strategy I attempt to follow and the difficulty I try Rogue is about the hardest level I can manage with a decent score with a 'warmonger' strategy - eg.

I'll take your suggestion about the SOL - I have to be nearly perfect at the Rogue difficulty to score well so a really big gun like the SOL would provide a little more leeway as the effects of age start accumulating. The War Canoe is great fun for playing 'The Daughter's and Relatives Game' at an easier level where the penalties of mistakes and aging aren't so severe. Its a ton of fun scooting quickly around the Caribbean chasing down bounties, villans and lost cities and ending up as a Bishop or Governor at the conclusion.

The "Ship of the Line" is the largest member of its class, and is also considered the most powerful ship in the entire game. Finding a Ship of the Line is extremely difficult, as it is the rarest ship in the game — it is not unheard of to finish a game without ever seeing one. Only its battle capability matches its rarity; ergo, attacking a Ship of the Line is very risky and dangerous.

Once captured, however, the Ship of the Line serves best as the Flagship of your Fleet. Even without upgrades, it should be able to handle any threat that comes your way. Additionally, it can also prove useful when attacking cities, especially if you intend on flipping a city to another nationality, making it both a useful raider or invasion force. A head-on battle with a Ship of the Line can be difficult and dangerous—especially if the player is unprepared—but even more difficult is actually finding a Ship of the Line.

In order for an enemy Ship of the Line to spawn, the following factors and conditions must be taken into consideration:. Studying these points gives a fairly obvious set of guidelines to follow in order to spawn Ships of the Line.

The most straightforward strategy seems to be to 1 anger a non-Spanish city and placing it under siege; 2 sinking every merchant ship that leaves its ports; while 3 allowing "improvement" ships such as New Governor ships and Immigrant ships to enter, so that the city remains Wealthy. Also, the importance of Bounty has not been entirely proven. This is not related to the Pirate-Hunters, which will spawn if you attack friendly shipping in the area regardless of destination or origin.

It seems like city population is also an important factor, as well as "national" prowess, I. So far, there have been no sightings of one in neither nor , but it is unknown if they can actually spawn in those eras or not.

I've always had good luck finding a ship of the line. I just harass the English and it's only a matter of time before one shows up. Zalzany View Profile View Posts. Wow some serrious necro, but I got so meissues, ship of the line is not a frigate Its the opposite its a battleship. Its like calling the Yamato a cruser A frigate is a lighter much less powerfull ship that sacrafices hull strength and gun placements for speed and manuvrabilty.

These conditions under which SOLs can spawn: Ships of the line are only spawned by non-Spanish nations; in fact, the Spanish will never spawn any Frigate class ships. Ships of the line are only spawned when any non-Spanish places a bounty on the player of what appears to be no less than 30, gold pieces.
