She waited until he got closer Caught by surprise, Ashfur stumbled to the ground. He quickly regained his balance, and faced her, his eyes gleaming. Ashfur wiggled under Hollyleaf's weight. He laid limp for moment. Hollyleaf loosened her grip, satisfied, but the moment she did so Ashfur sprang up with all his force, knocking him down. Hollyleaf hissed and scratched at his face. Ashfur gasped at the pain but ignored it and slide to the other side of Hollyleaf, then leaped onto her back.

He clung on, digging his sharp claws into Hollyleaf's flesh. She shrieked in pain and knocked him off, causing him to crash into a tree. Driven by fury, Holyleaf leaped on Ashfur, pinning him down. She snarled and bit down on his neck. Then, Hollyleaf snapped out of it. She let go of his neck. She looked into Ashfur's eyes. Pain and sorrow flashed in them, where before was only anger and annoyance.

The anger flashed back again and he pushed her off of him. Blazing with fury, he leaped on her and pinned her down. Hollyleaf shrieked in fear. He bit down hard on Hollyleaf's neck. Desperately, she squirmed and wiggled. She tried the trick of going limp, but Ashfur didn't fall for it. Blood welled out of a gash in her neck. She yelped in pain.

She grew weak and fought to stay alive. Darkness was threatening to over take her. It was that moment that everything went dark and she felt like she was sinking. She tried to keep herself from reaching the darkness, but It overthrew her and everything was gone. Hollyleaf was dead. Loinblaze waited impatiently with a horrible feeling to go to the gathering for that night.

Scenarios of what would happened at the gathering filled his mind. Firestar signaled that they were leaving. Loinblaze looked around. Ashfur is mentioned very briefly by Hollyleaf when the she-cat explains to Lionblaze that she cannot be the fourth cat in the prophecy because of the murder she committed.
