Just found out that fleabass has is no longer making bass guitars per 8th street music , which explains why I have not been able to find the touring bass anywhere. Flea this 60 year old bass man love your music. Pleas tell me how can I get one of your bass? This is an unofficial website so we have nothing to do with actual band members but this is what I know:.
Hope that helps. They are very hard to find now and are very sought after.. I have a brand new tour bass that I will sell if interested…………………….. I have a brand new sunny tour bass for sale.. It plays like a vintage jazz bass on steroids…………give me a ring.
Hey there, do u still have the flea bass? Please email me at LesleyT gmail. I have a blue and white street fleabass for sale. How much were you hoping for the bass?
Please email me to discuss further…. It looks like a vintage 60s Eko or something? Flea is wearing trousers made of stuffed toy animals in the photo. I have the blue and white one. Used two or 3 times. Any fleabass out there for sale? Very interested! I have an original modulus fb4 flea bass with his signature on the matching headstock in mind condition. I heavily doubt he ever used a squier. Squiers have been in production since Dual stacked volume and tone controls have been utilised, in keeping with the aged model this is based on, and perfectly complement the pair of Pure Vintage 64 single-coil pickups.
The natural character of this particular bass is warm and rounded, which is not what we were expecting. On plugging the Jazz in, although it had the sonic attributes that any twin single coil-equipped bass will display. It felt and sounded less responsive and lively than, say, the Geddy Lee model we looked at recently.
In terms of performance, the pickups are powerful, offering plenty of forthright presence for a passive instrument. The bridge pickup, in particular, sounds punchy and honky without being too brittle.
Thankfully, the stacked controls are functional through their complete turn, so there is plenty of light and shade on offer when bringing the tone controls into play. It also does a passable impersonation of a split-coil pickup, should you be after a more mellow tone.
Jazz basses are well known for their slap tones, of course, and this bass is equally adept in that department. That is, until I got one. That bass is magic. In fact, it may be the last of its kind—Shell Pink is a custom color that Fender almost never used, and I have yet to see a similar example of that vintage. Bass Player had the good fortune to spend some time with the original bass on its way to Flea, and all who were there attest to its incredible tone and fabulously retro finish.
Other period-appropriate touches abound. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer, just like back in the day.
